The Fourth Piece is a Charm........

.............So, I have been buying living room furniture a piece at a time. First came a table, next a sofa, next came the loveseat and yesterday I hauled the fourth piece home - the chair. Getting the chair in place and dragging the old one to the curb has given the room a look of unity. By myself, I got it out of my Tucson, and into the house. I thought for awhile it was going to have to sleep in the garage last night but I finally managed to get it in.

You would think that four legs equipped with threaded bolts would be very simple to attach! I got them screwed in pretty easy but they have three flat sides and one curved side and it took me forever to figure out which way they were supposed to be turned!! I am waiting for someone stronger than me to put the screws in each one. So, if you stop by, don't sit on the chair!

I'm glad it looks right at home with the rest of its family.

The sofa and love seat both came with four loose pillows. I'm not using all of them - it was too much! But, a couple of striped ones makes the striped chair look like it belongs.

You wouldn't believe how many pictures I have taken of the red pieces and nearly all of them made the red look orange. This dark picture has the red about right.

This one makes the walls more like they are but there is that orange (I hate) glow on the sofa again!

I have never thought to take a picture in this direction before. There is more walking space at the side of the loveseat than this picture looks. The opening is the entrance to the kitchen and most of the white you see is the door to the garage.

After seeing this train station clock looking so miniscule in the last picture, I decided to show a close-up of it.

Another thing that came into the room yesterday is this wool pumpkin.  I am almost as excited to have it as the chair!  It is a boy pumpkin. Well maybe it would be better said, it has a masculine look.
I was in Winter Park yesterday with some friends and we went into Coldwater Creek where just a few minutes before, they had started  a good sale - the only way I ever buy anything from Coldwater. The pumpkin was $10 to start with, which was amazing to me. In that store I would have expected much higher. It was marked down to half off plus they were having a 30% off sale too. So they practically gave me the pumpkin. Did I tell you I love it!!!

This little bird was a little more than the pumpkin because it was only 30% off.  I didn't see any clothes that I wanted to walk out with.

Now, to show you my latest big tag.  I made one similar to this to give to a friend and decided to make this one to keep.

I really like making tags.

That is an old clip earring and it's "jewels" are a pretty amethyst color.

Excuse me while I go sit and enjoy my new things!

  4. Wow, you absolutely stole that pumpkin! Great deal, don't you love it when you get something wonderful for next to nothing? I get so excited!!!
I am loving the furniture and the decorating, it looks beautiful, homey, comfortable, and very rich and colorful.
I think that train station clock is absolutely amazing. If I ever saw one I would grab it up in a heartbeat.
Good job, I can't wait to see what else you will be up to!

  5. I would have a fun time making pretty tags like that too! How beautiful your cozy new furniture looks. I love that tweed pumpkin too! I didn't know CC had stuff like that, I'll have to check them out! You DO need some transferware! It's easier to find it new than vintage, and I'm sure you could find some online. I always like to find bargains tho.

  7. Betty,
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving the nice comment. It was a nice pick-me-up, because today I am wondering if I bit off more than I can chew doing three quilts. I think it's because I'm not feeling well today and just don't have any energy. I am going to try to work on them for about ten minutes and if I still feel exhausted I'll go right back to the couch and crochet! At least I made a pot of chili today, and put up some more decorations after seeing your blog, so the day wasn't a total waste! It was so nice to meet you!
    Hugs,
    Julie

  8. Thank you so much for visiting Joanne and for leaving your nice words. I noticed you are a writer but there is no mention of a blog. Is there someplace online that your writings are available?

  9. I love the striped fabric on your chair! Reminds me of ticking fabric. Coldwater Creek is one of my favorite "I wish" stores in that I wish I could afford their prices cuz I love the style of clothes they carry. Hehe.
The tag you made is too cute. I would love to start making some myself but I've already got too many irons in the fire to add more craft projects but maybe some day....
I don't blame you for wanting to enjoy your new things. I would too! ;)
